Where to find it PayrollConfigurationSalary Components; PayrollSalary Structures

Before you start

The employee must already exist: see Add an employee.

Steps

  1. Open Payroll, point at Configuration and choose Salary Components.
  2. To add a component, type a name, choose Earning or Deduction, and click Add. A Fixed component has the same amount every month; a Variable one changes (commission, overtime). Tick Counts toward gratuity only for pay that gratuity is calculated on.
  3. Choose Salary Structures in the top menu to set the monthly pay of each employee.
  4. Click the employee. People without a structure show Set in the list.
  5. Pick a component from Add component, click Add, then type the monthly amount. Repeat for each line.
  6. Check Net monthly, then click Save Structure.

Note

Payroll runs only pay employees who have a salary structure. Change a structure and generate the run again for the new amounts to appear.

Tip

A component already used in a structure cannot be deleted. Switch it off instead of removing it.

What happens next

Turn the structures into payslips: run payroll for the month.
