Gross Profit report
See what you sold, what it cost you and how much you made - by product, customer, salesperson or month.
Before you start
Gross profit needs a cost. Give every product you sell a Cost Price, or buy it through SiaOne so the cost is known. Sales of an item with no cost are not hidden - they are added up in the Sales without cost column, and no margin can be worked out for them.
Steps
- Open Sales > Reporting > Gross Profit. Each row is a product, with the number of Documents, the Qty sold, the Sales, the Cost, the Gross Profit and the Margin.
- Read the columns from left to right. Sales is the net amount invoiced, in your company currency, less credit notes. Cost is the quantity sold at the product's average cost on the day of the sale. Gross Profit is Sales minus Cost, and Margin is the gross profit as a percentage of the sales.
- Choose a Period - for example This year to date. The table and the totals at the bottom change at once.
- Open Group By and choose Month to see the profit month by month. The other choices are Product, Product Category, Brand, Customer and Salesperson.
- Choose Group By > Customer, then open Product Category and pick one, for example Monitors. You now see which customers bring you the most profit on that type of product. Click Clear to remove the filters.
- Click Export and choose PDF, Excel or CSV to take the report away.
- Click any row to open the Sales Detail report for it, with the invoice lines behind the number. Use the Gross Profit link at the top of the page to go back.
Note
The report is based on posted Customer Invoices, shown in the Based On box. Draft invoices are not counted.
Tip
The filters bar also has Payment Status, Customer, Product, Brand, Salesperson and Currency. Filters combine, so you can ask, for example, for the profit on one brand sold to one customer.
What happens next
