Before you start

You need a confirmed sales order. See Confirm a sales order.

Steps

  1. Open the sales order. Click the actions menu ⋯ next to its number and choose Create RFQ (purchase).
  2. In Vendor, choose the vendor you will buy from.
  3. Under Products to request, tick the items to buy. Change a quantity if you need less than the order.
  4. Click Create RFQ. The RFQ opens in Purchase, with the vendor, the products and the quantities filled in, and Customer (Purchasing For) set to your customer.
  5. Choose where the goods arrive in Deliver To, type the Unit Price of each line and click Save.

Note

The RFQ is a draft. Send it to the vendor, or click Confirm when the vendor agrees: see Email an RFQ to a supplier.

Tip

Customer (Purchasing For) only records who the purchase is for. To pass the cost on to the customer, see Buy for a customer and mark the line billable.

What happens next

After you confirm the order, receive the goods and then deliver the sales order.
